Membership of aupairfriends.com
Aupairfriends is designed to help au pairs and host families get the most from their time together. Most of the website can only be accessed by au pair members or their host families.

What does membership offer the au pair?
Once a member, an au pair will be able to use Aupairfriends' private network through which to make local au pair friends. They will also be able to access recommendations for days off, things to do with the children, travelling around Britain, sightseeing information, au pair top ten sights in London, getting the best from your host family, telephoning home cheaply, opening a bank account, and to find out about their local area.

What does it offer the host family?
Whilst their au pair has membership, host families have access to information and guides on house rules, getting the best from your au pair using a feedback questionnaire, safety advice to give au pairs looking after young children, au pairs and the telephone.

How does membership work?
Membership is held by the au pair. It lapses when the au pair leaves their host family, or after 12 months, which ever is earlier. In addition, host families also have free access to ‘Host Family Information’ on the web site whilst their au pair is a Member. Membership is not transferable.

What does membership cost?
Aupairfriends annual membership is £15 only. Membership is usually bought by families for their au pair.

How can I buy membership?
Contact your au pair agency. Participating agencies will send you an application form.

What if my au pair did not come through a UK-based au pair agency?
For security reasons we cannot currently accept applications from au pairs who did not come through an au pair agency. However, we are interested to know how much demand there is for this service so please email us at enquiries@aupairfriends.com and we will contact you if and when we are in a position to extend membership to non-agency au pairs.

Can I apply online?
Unfortunately not. In order to maintain security we require a completed application form, together with a personal cheque by post. Forms are available from participating au pair agencies. These forms incorporate safety features that help ensure that applicants are bona fide. If there are doubts about the identity of applicants we will check with the au pair agency concerned.

What happens after I’ve posted the application form?
Receipt of applications is acknowledged via the email address(es) provided on the application form. It is sent together with a username and password enabling au pairs and families to access the web site. If you have any queries concerning your application, please email enquiries@aupairfriends.com. Be sure to include the name of the au pair member and your postcode.

How does the website help an au pair find friends?
We work with au pair agencies to provide a large network of au pair members. The website enables members to search for the closest au pairs to their host family, based upon post codes. Search results will reveal the information shown below:

Other information, such as post codes and email addresses, will be not be revealed on the site. Members only reveal their email addresses if they choose to reply to an email from another member. There is a very strict safety procedure to which au pairs have to adhere.

How can au pairs use the Internet for free?
Most au pairs come to the UK with their own email address. There is free internet access in most libraries and colleges of further education.
